Once there was a bridge

At one stage what looks to have been a railway bridge once crossed over the canal here.

Wyrley and Essington 25/09/10

This morning i headed up to Brownhills for my second trip to the Wyrley & Essington Canal, this time i went in the other direction in the direction of Cannock and so on. Of course i took many pics, the water of this canal is quite clear and on a sunny day like today you get some great reflections.

Grand Union at Leamington Spa

We went down to Leamington Spa today and of course the Grand Union passes through the town so i took a few photos along the canal (and the river Leam). Its a nice spot, i think i might come back soon and give the canal here a more thorough examination.

Mind the edge

The Wednesbury Old Canal has a lot of reeds and other water vegetation at the sides, its not clear exactly where the towpath ends and the water begins, so take care!

Gower Branch Canal

The Gower Branch Canal is a nice little canal that links the old and new Main Lines. It is only a half of a mile long and runs from Albion to Brades Hall Junctions. One notable feature about it is the so-called staircase lock at Brades Hall.

Railway Bridge (1)

I like photos where a train runs over the canal (via a bridge of course). I've managed to take a couple lately, here is one of a train on the main line going over the Main Line.

Duck mooring

Looks like they are waiting for a boat.

Junctions (7) : Pudding Green Junction

Where the Wednesbury Old Canal ends and joins the Birmingham New Main Line so one could say this is where old and new meet.
